What actually happens in your first consultation

Booking a first consultation can feel like a bigger step than it needs to be, especially when you're not sure what to expect. Here's exactly what happens at Kept Aesthetics, so you can walk in knowing, not guessing.

We start with you, not the treatment

Before we talk about any options, I want to understand you. Your health, your lifestyle, what's brought you in, what you're actually hoping for. This isn't a formality on the way to a sales conversation. It's the foundation everything else is built on.

Eight years in paediatric intensive care taught me that the questions which feel irrelevant are often the ones that matter most. So I ask a lot of them, and I take the answers seriously.

A proper health and history review

We go through your general health, current medications, and any previous treatments, with us or elsewhere. This information genuinely changes what's appropriate for you. I'd rather ask a question that turns out not to matter than miss one that does.

An honest conversation about your goals

I'll ask what's prompted you to come in, and I'll listen properly before I respond. Sometimes what you describe as the goal and what will actually address the underlying concern are two different things. Part of my job is helping you think that through, not simply agreeing with the first idea you arrive with.

Time for your questions

A consultation should never be a one-way conversation. There's time built in for yours, about options, about cost, about what a plan would actually involve. I'd rather you leave with more clarity than you arrived with than leave having simply been told what to book in for.

No pressure to decide on the day

I don't expect, or want, anyone to decide on treatment in the same appointment as their first consultation, unless they specifically want to. Take the information away. Sit with it. Come back with more questions if you have them. A good decision is rarely a rushed one, and I'd rather earn your trust over time than push for a same-day booking.

What to bring with you

A list of current medications and supplements, a brief note of relevant medical history, and any specific questions you've been sitting on. If you've had treatments elsewhere, a general idea of what and when is useful too, even without exact details. None of this needs to be formally prepared, a few notes on your phone are more than enough. The goal is giving us enough to have a genuinely informed conversation, not starting from scratch on details that are easy to forget under pressure in the room.

How long it takes

There's no strict time limit on a first consultation, because rushing it defeats the purpose. Most take longer than people expect, often 30 to 45 minutes, sometimes more if there's a lot to discuss. I'd rather run over time than cut a conversation short because a slot has ended. If you need more time than what's been allocated, say so. We'll either extend the appointment or arrange a follow-up conversation, rather than leaving things unresolved.

If this sounds like the kind of consultation you'd want, you can book via the ‘book your keep’ button.
